November is an unpredictable month as nature struggles between fall and winter; the temperatures and weather conditions can be extreme. There is a melancholy intrigue that one senses at dusk while travelling the back roads of the St. Lawrence Valley. The light becomes more precious as the last few grains of day slip through the hourglass and is replaced by man-made illumination. The dark angular silhouettes of farm buildings are punctuated against the softness of a backlit sky. It is a time of both peacefulness and mystery as the shadow of night slowly reaches across the land.

Reproduced from acrylic painting on hardboard.
