On an early December day, with a stiff unrelenting east wind, I was returning from Clayton, NY when I stopped by Fishers Landing to watch the river. The heavy, leaden skies and icy wind foreshadowed the frigid days that lay ahead and the water as cold, hard and uninviting as raw blue steel. Looking North across the channel at the dormant, hibernating islands, there was a kind of peacefulness that you feel in the night when you watch someone sleeping.
Painted in watercolor on cold press paper.
