Winter in the Thousand Islands is stark, solemn and silent. The snow transforms the landscape into a harmonious, monochromatic blend of water, rock and sky. As one stands in the crisp cool air on the shore of the St. Lawrence River looking north, there is a melancholy feeling that surrounds Heart Island like a latent aura. But underneath that winter blanket and deep within Boldt Castle’s frozen walls lies a dream, a stillborn dream, that was forsaken by mortality.
