Crossover Island is one of the most idyllic Lighthouses on the St Lawrence River situated mid-river close to the Canadian border, below Chippewa Bay in New York. It is the point that ships traveling the Seaway cross from the American channel to the Canadian. Constructed in 1848 on a 130×80 rock, it was deactivated in 1941 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

On a crisp fall day we were on a fishing trip and had an opportunity to pass by Crossover. The day had begun with a cold rain but the afternoon gave way to intermittent clouds and rich deep colors. Painted in acrylic on illustration board.
