The majestic turbulent looking sky and stiff river chop, in this watercolor painting of a magnificent boathouse located on Wellesley Island reflect the character of its owner, George C. Boldt. It was designed to house the boats that would deliver guests to Boldt Castle on Heart Island about 1/4 mile away. The huge multilevel doors could accommodate the high stacks of the river steamboats. After years of neglect, the boathouse has now been restored to its original condition.
