We have stayed in several places on Monhegan Island but the Daniel Stevens cottage, named after an early lighthouse Keeper who had it built as a rental property, offers a unique and tranquil island sanctuary. Located at the end of the trail on Burnt Head, the view from the porch is spectacular with the village and harbor on one side and the ocean cliffs on the other. Formerly known as Haraven, it is also referred to as the haunted house for some unknown reason.
This is the view from the trail as seen one evening while retuning from the backside of the island. I took a few photos and went inside and did this acrylic painting from the image off my laptop.
