Every once in a while as I wonder around this planet, I encounter a scene that seems too ideal to be real. One summer day I was camping in the Adirondacks near Fish Creek Pond, when I happened upon these six ducks resting on a log. They must have been used to people hiking by because they didn’t seem to be bothered by my photographing them. The one on the end that kept a watchful vigil for the group.
The muted greens reflecting the background trees and the contrast of brighter lily pads seemed to create a pleasing harmony with the warm brown tones of the ducks and neutral colors of the moldering log.
Reproduced from an oil painting on hardboard by giclee printing.
