Summer on Monhegan can be way too short for some and way too long for others. But I find on long dark winter nights my mind often returns there seeking asylum from the numbing cold that engulfs my spirit.
I’ll share a few lines of “Woods in winter” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Where twisted round the barren oak,
The summer vine in beauty clung,
And summer winds the stillness broke,
The crystal icicle is hung.
Reproduced from an acrylic painting by giclee printing.
