From a rocky shoal on a misty late summer morning, a great blue heron looks out across the calm water of the Lost Channel in the Thousand Islands. The heavy atmosphere baths the scene in a palette of moody blues and greens, while in the muted background is a section of the Canadian span of the Thousand Island Bridge often referred to as the Rainbow Span.
Once somewhat scarce the great blue heron in the last decade have greatly increased making them a frequent sight on the St Lawrence River and the inland valley waters. Reproduced from an acrylic painting.
