September is a great monthly to visit Monhegan with a little luck the weather can be ideal, warm days and cool nights. The summer rush has passed and the island is winding down, there is a relaxed atmosphere that descends on the village like a full moon into the ocean.
On this fall morning a friend invited me to go painting with him, we chose this spot that looks out across the meadow in the center of the island where the source of Monhegan’s fresh water is located. It also provided shelter from a cold wind that was blowing that day. Painted in acrylic on hardboard.
